"Press Forward with Faith"
Growing up on a ranch, Julie Rogers learned the value of hard work. These experiences also gave her a love of the rustic simple things in life. Her relationship with creativity began each morning and continued as she walked through the day interpreting light, nature & human emotion. Developing her artistic talent. Julie found her spirit resonating with the recreation of the human figure.
Julie has the rare gift of capturing the divine nature of her subject as she paints their spirit striving to excel. She sees the ennobling power in the ordinary toil of life and thus her paintings radiate the beauty of the human soul.
Julie has been in various publications, magazines and books, including the Ensign, New Era and The Friend
Art has always been a constant companion in my life. Whether it was through my first impressions of painting the minute and life like qualities in animals or simply the bright myriad of colors in the landscape of our ranch in Goshen, Utah. As early as kindergarten my teachers noticed that art was the subject that would prevail over all other others in my life. I have always drawn and painted my lifeís experiences since I was little. My work on the ranch was never complete and in that same aspect my obsession for art will never end. Art is a constant learning process.

What's the NUMBER 1 QUESTION people want to know RIGHT NOW about the FABULOUS Las Vegas LDS Single Adult Conference 2015? THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS!! Okay, here's the low down on what the committee has confirmed up to this point. And of course the final details are subject to change ;) So please keep in mind this is the PRELIMINARY Schedule of events...
On Thursday we have the REAL kickoff to our conference: The BEAUTIFUL Las Vegas Temple! Join us for the 6:30pm Endowment Session if you're able.
For those opting not to serve in the temple, come meet us at a chapel a block away on Hollywood and Stewart for a special fireside at 7:00pm with President Hale of the temple presidency!
Afterwards, everyone from the temple session and fireside will join together for a nice sit-down dinner provided at the church.
And for you night owls, after dinner at 11pm there's a group heading over to the Linq, the world's tallest Ferris Wheel! Experience breath-taking views of the world-famous Vegas skyline at night! The Linq is an "extra" activity (not included in the conference ticket) so you do have to pay your own way. However, we've negotiated a special $21 discounted price.
Now we have the OFFICIAL start to our conference! Registration opens at the Henderson Convention center at 5:30pm...
However, please don't miss out on the many "extra" activities going on during the day on Friday such as hikes, tours and The Adventure Dome in-door amusement park! Again, these "extra" activities coordinated by some of the local Vegas singles are pay-your-own-way (not included in the conference ticket). Please read through the posts in our official conference Facebook group for more details.
You do not want to show up "fashionably late" on Friday, because the fun and excitement begins just as soon as the registration doors open at 5:30!
We've got a fantastic live band lined up to set the mood for mingling and socializing as we begin serving everyone a steady flow of Mo's DELICIOUS Gourmet Pizza! (remember how FANTASTIC it was last year?!). And we'll have the Gelato for everyone again this year as well!
There will be plenty of opportunities to mix and mingle all night long. You might enjoy chillin' outdoors on the patio dancing or just listening to the band, or you could prefer heading indoors to the game room to play air hockey, pool or foosball. Those looking for something quiet in a more intimate setting will enjoy playing some fun board games set up in some of the smaller rooms inside. We'll also have photo booths running all night and (maybe) some karaoke!
Oh, and of course we'll have our favorite live DJ Curtis Whipple inside the convention center playing his hot mix of great DANCE music so you can get your groove on!!
During the course of this AMAZING evening of fun and excitement, please make plans to join our SPEED DATING mix and mingle activity! We'll have sessions divided by age group beginning at 7:30pm.
We've promised the City of Henderson we'd be outta' there by 1:00am (darn!)... but the local Vegas LDS singles are making sure there's something fun going on afterwards for the late, late crowd! Again, keep an eye on the Facebook group for up-to-the-minute details on the "unofficial" activities.
Doors open Saturday at the convention center at 8:00am for registration and continental breakfast.
But the morning really kicks into high gear at 9:00am when our distinguished keynote speaker, Sister KRISTEN M. OAKS takes center stage! Sister Oaks has referred to herself as a "poster child" for the single adults as she had walked our paths in YSA & SA programs of the Church before her marriage to Elder Dallin H. Oaks at age 53. She's an amazing speaker with unique empathy and great love for us as singles.
What happens next? The WORKSHOPS!! To some we are known as "the workshops conference" because we do our best to overload you with a plethora of world-renowned authors, experts and dynamic speakers! Among our workshop speakers this year you'll find the likes of DR. VICTOR LUDLOW, emeritus BYU professor of ancient scripture as well as Sierra Leone civil war survivor MARIAMA KALLON! Your greatest challenge for the day? Deciding which of the 20+ amazing workshops you will attend!
The workshops begin shortly after the keynote address at 10:20am and run all the way until dinner time with a break in the middle for lunch. Workshops will be held at both the convention center and the stake center 2 blocks away on Ocean Ave.
At 12:30 the workshops take a break for lunch on the convention center patio... We've got a FANTASTIC afternoon of food and fun planned for all conference attendees! Because it was such a huge success last year, we're bringing back the CARNIVAL!! We'll serve lunch along with popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones as you enjoy all the fun of our midway game booths, big-bounce bungee run, slide, jousting, human foosball and life-sized angry birds! The band will be playing, so expect some dancing to break out!
The workshops start back up at 2:30pm, but we'll keep the fun and games running 'til around 3:30pm for those who prefer to spend the time socializing with friends old and new.
A DELICIOUS Dinner catered by Dickey's Barbecue Pit will be served in 2 shifts (5:00pm and 6:00pm) at both locations overlapping the final 2 workshop sessions. Yum!!
7:15pm is CONCERT TIME at the convention center outdoor amphitheater featuring our SUPER HOT Entertainment Headliner SHAUN CANON!!
After the show (around 8:30pm) we'll have indoor dancing with the DJ and outdoor dancing with the band! And you'll have your chance to show off your own entertaining skills at the karaoke! We'll also have the game room, board games and photo booths set up for you like we had on Friday.
We have to be out by midnight, but the local LDS singles will have an AFTER PARTY with live DJ (NOT an official conference activity)... have you joined our Facebook group yet? That's where you'll find the details!
We're giving you ample time to get some sleep before our SACRAMENT SERVICE at 3:00pm at the Ocean Ave chapel.
After sacrament, a light dinner will be served before we reconvene in the chapel at 6:00pm for our DEVOTIONAL FIRESIDE with special guest speaker TRAVIS TUTTLE, one of the "Saratov Approach" missionaries! Brother Tuttle will share with us the miraculous story of his kidnapping and survival while serving his mission in Russia.
We'll have a few more surprises during the fireside, including hymns performed by a special GOSPEL CHOIR assembled, produced and directed by former members of Gladys Knight's Saints Unified Voices!
Monday is Presidents Day! For those of you able to stick around, we'll have another chill day of unofficial activities put together by the local singles before we all say good-bye.
In the morning you'll have your choice of either a Hoover Dam Tour or a very cool hike in the same area. We'll all meet together for lunch afterwards. Those that care to linger longer will head back to the Strip for more fun at the Linq Ferris Wheel.
Get all the details inside the facebook group. (All Monday activities are pay your own way and not included in the conference ticket)
This website is a "work in progress" as the committee works to finalize details on speakers, activities, schedule, etc. Please keep an eye on this site for more info as it becomes available.
